About the role

The CaFHS Social Worker, part of the Women’s and Children’s Health Network, supports families with children aged 0–3 through early intervention, counselling, and advocacy. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the role focuses on improving assessment and care planning for vulnerable families, helping parents build coping and problem-solving skills, foster hope, and connect with community resources. Based at a CaFHS site and working across regions, the Social Worker also provides support through Torrens House’s residential program for mothers and babies with feeding or settling difficulties.

Key duties of the role

  • Contributes to direct service provision for Family Home Visiting eligible clients by providing specialist skills in assessment and engagement of families who are experiencing psychosocial adversity
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a service of best practice
  • Takes responsibility for improving the quality of personal practice

Skills and Experience

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Ability in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating complex interventions including group work aimed at addressing psychosocial need in families with children aged 0 to 3 years
  • Proven experience in working with families utilising current research and knowledge about attachment, infant mental health and brain development and families who are experiencing psychosocial need
