About the role
Lead culturally responsive, trauma-informed care for Aboriginal children, young people and families engaged with forensic mental health services. Provide expert clinical and cultural leadership across CAMHS, supporting service planning, staff development and partnerships that improve outcomes and cultural safety.
Key duties of the role
- Deliver expert cultural assessments and interventions for Aboriginal children and families in the juvenile justice system, particularly Kurlana Tapa Youth Justice Centre.
- Lead, mentor and supervise Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing staff in the Forensic CAMHS Team.
- Provide cultural leadership and advice within multidisciplinary and forensic teams.
- Strengthen relationships with Aboriginal communities and partner agencies.
- Contribute to CAMHS service planning, evaluation and research initiatives.
Skills and Experience
- Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care/SEWB or equivalent qualification (or willingness to obtain).
- Significant experience delivering Aboriginal mental health or wellbeing services.
- Proven leadership and supervision experience within Aboriginal health contexts.
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, kinship and community networks.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across forensic, clinical and community settings.
