Expression Of Interest - Clinical Director Drug and Alcohol Services SA

Drug and Alcohol Services South Australia (DASSA), a state-wide health service operating under the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network, is seeking a highly experienced and strategic clinical leader to fill the role of Clinical Director on a 12 month contract term. This pivotal role is accountable to the Chief Executive Officer of SALHN and is responsible for providing expert clinical leadership across Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) treatment services throughout South Australia.

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction and delivery of DASSA’s clinical services, contributing to the broader objectives of SALHN and SA Health. They will actively participate as a member of the SALHN Executive Leadership Committee, offering high-level clinical advice to inform service planning, the development and implementation of clinical networks, state-wide plans, and clinical senate recommendations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversight and governance of all clinical matters related to patient care and clinical functions within DASSA.

  • Leadership and governance of clinical programs and management of contracted non-government treatment and harm reduction services across the state.

  • Chairing DASSA’s Divisional Leadership Group, Clinical Leadership Committee, and Corporate Leadership Committee.

  • Building and maintaining strategic relationships with internal SALHN divisions, other Local Health Networks, key non-government partners in the AOD sector, Wellbeing South Australia, and the Department for Health and Wellbeing.

  • Contributing to operational and strategic goals through management of key performance indicators (KPIs), service delivery, budget oversight, risk management, and workplace health and safety.

  • Providing oversight of contracting and procurement related to NGO service provision.

  • Representing SA Health at relevant State and Commonwealth inter-governmental meetings.

  • Maintaining an active clinical load within their specialty and participating in after-hours on-call duties.
