As a Medical Scientist (MeS1/2), you will play a vital role in delivering a high-quality, multi-disciplined pathology service within a regional laboratory. You will contribute to the provision of accurate and timely diagnostic testing, applying your scientific and technical expertise across a range of laboratory practices. Working collaboratively within a supportive team environment, you will help ensure that laboratory operations meet the highest standards of quality, safety and reliability.
At the MeS1 level, you will undertake and apply established scientific techniques with guidance, contributing to the development and implementation of new methodologies to enhance service delivery. At the MeS2 level, you will bring advanced professional expertise and judgement to perform, analyse and troubleshoot diagnostic procedures, validate quality control processes, and provide advice in more complex situations. In both classifications, you will play an important part in maintaining excellence in laboratory practice and supporting the continuous improvement of regional pathology services.
About You
You are a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Scientist who thrives in a collaborative environment, delivering high-quality diagnostic and pathology services. With strong scientific knowledge and practical experience, you demonstrate both technical precision and professional judgement in all aspects of laboratory operations.

Scientific Expertise: Hold an approved qualification in pathology or a related science, meeting NPAAC requirements, with the competence and authorisation to perform professional laboratory functions.

Technical & Analytical Skills: Proven ability to perform, interpret and evaluate laboratory tests, maintain quality assurance, troubleshoot equipment, and apply sound scientific principles to complex cases.

Communication & Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across teams, provide customer-focused service, and contribute positively to a culture of teamwork and excellence.

Professionalism & Initiative: Demonstrated ability to manage workloads under pressure, maintain confidentiality, prioritise effectively, and drive continuous improvement through initiative and problem-solving.
