Join SA Health's Southern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Nurse Practitioner Candidate in our Northern Drug and Alcohol Services Adelaide unit. This full-time, ongoing position offers an exceptional pathway to advance your nursing career whilst making a meaningful difference in addiction medicine and mental health care.
About the role:
Reporting to the Regional Manager this role is responsible for providing clinical nursing/midwifery expertise for specified individual patients/clients and/or groups/populations, and/or provide clinical leadership for an area of practice and may work in a variety of clinical settings. Employees classified at this level are experts within their area and stream of practice and have a significant degree of autonomy and decision making.
Duties for the role will include:
- Keeping professionally up to date with relevant research, technological advances and models of care.
- Working appropriately and in a culturally respectful way with children, youth, women and their families where there are multiple complexities, diverse cultural backgrounds and expectations of clients.
- Accepting responsibility for the maintenance of own knowledge and professional competence and contemporary practices.
- Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team and across organisational Divisions/sites and promotes communication processes to enable best patient/client outcomes.
About you:
- Demonstrated ability to work as a practitioner with significant degree of independence and/or as part of a multidisciplinary team with advanced counselling and clinical skills within the alcohol and other drug field.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution, change management and negotiation skills.
- Ability to provide comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment of clients experiencing alcohol, tobacco and other drug problems with complex comorbidities requiring medication assisted treatment.
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet set timelines.
- A successful applicant will be required to undertake a Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) commencing February 2026.
