Provide caring and compassionate care to consumers living with very severe and extreme behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD).
About the role:
Working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality care in a holistic and respectful manner.
The Physiotherapist role provides assessment, intervention and management of consumers of the RNBU, which includes specialised consultation and skills to consumers with age related diagnoses and consumers with cognitive impairment. The Physiotherapist will work with the Senior Physiotherapist to manage a case load of consumers including consumers with more complex needs, providing specialised physiotherapy services.
Duties for the role will include:
- Provide appropriate, safe and effective physiotherapy management (assessment and treatment) of consumers physiotherapy services, including hydrotherapy.
- Participate in provision of co-ordinated health care by liaising with medical, nursing and other professional staff regarding consumer care in meetings, ward rounds, clinics and providing written reports or other communications.
- Facilitate consumer discharge by maintenance of close links with community and other resources.
- Managing a caseload of consumers with more complex needs, providing trans-disciplinary clinical service provision.
About you:
- Demonstrated commitment to high quality, compassionate, relationship-centred care to consumers living with dementia who experience associated behavioural and psychological symptoms at very severe to extreme levels.
- Physiotherapy skills in assessment and management of a broad range of conditions
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of personnel and maintain effective work relationships, such as the multidisciplinary team
- Empathy and ability to work with a range of vulnerable consumers with an ability to act responsibly in an emergency situation.
