Overview:
The Planning and Support Officer (Health Disaster Emergency Management) is accountable to the Director for:
Strategy and Leadership focus area;
- Operational business planning and administration support
- Preparing briefings, letters and reports for DMB and drafting workforce and organisation structure related correspondence for Senior Management
- Facilitating and coordinating the provision of professional and confidential business support to DMB.
- Providing administrative support and executive officer support to a range of committees as required.
- Maintaining administration systems supporting the work of DMB (ICT applications, workflow processes, rosters)
- Monitoring and leading continuous improvement in key branch operational processes and administrative systems.
Capability Development focus area
- Supporting the administration of training, exercises and other activities.
- Supporting the development of resources,
- Undertaking project and investigative work when required.
Operational Readiness focus area;
- Assisting in the creating of operational plans and supporting documents for preplanned events, emergency incidents and operational readiness activities
- Managing operational resources, including deployment packs
- Maintaining operational disaster emergency management systems that support incidents (ICT applications, distribution lists, rosters and building accesses for example).
Incident Management (operations);
- Participate in on call and incident-based roles.
- Provide administrative support during Health emergency incidents under the direction of the incident manager or commander, as required.

Criminal History Screening Requirement
- A ‘National Police Certificate’ NPC (also known as a ‘Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check’ NCCHC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)
Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact)
SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
Special Conditions
- The incumbent will be required to participate in an after-hours on-call roster; some out-of-hours work will be required.
- Intrastate/interstate travel may be required.
- Must be ready and willing to assist in managing disease outbreaks within the community which may include travel within South Australia.
