About the role
As a Technical Officer – Blood Bank, you will play a crucial role in delivering accurate, timely and high-quality diagnostic testing services within the Blood Bank at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Your work will directly support patient safety and clinical decision-making through a range of laboratory functions, including pre-transfusion testing, antenatal serology, antibody investigations and the dispatch of blood and blood products. You will ensure all testing and quality control results meet established standards, contributing to the delivery of a reliable and efficient transfusion service that underpins exceptional patient care.
In this hands-on and rewarding role, you will work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team and participate in the laboratory’s 24/7 roster and on-call service. You will utilise your technical expertise in routine testing and develop advanced competencies as required to support the evolving needs of the Blood Bank. Qualifications & Technical Foundation
A recognised qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline, supported by sound knowledge of laboratory principles, scientific practices, and safety standards. -
Laboratory Experience & Accuracy
Demonstrated competency and recent experience in routine Blood Bank operations, with a commitment to delivering accurate results within defined timelines. -
Communication & Teamwork
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively, follow instructions effectively, and provide exceptional customer service in a team-based environment. -
Organisation, Initiative & Integrity
Strong organisational skills, initiative in problem-solving, and the ability to manage confidential information and multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
