About the role
In this important position, the Pre-Analytical Operational Services Officer plays a key part in supporting high-quality pathology services and ensuring patients receive safe, timely care. Working within a dedicated Pre-Analytical Specimen Reception team, you will provide professional and compassionate customer service while carrying out a range of duties across specimen management and essential administrative tasks. Your ability to use Laboratory Information Systems accurately and confidently will help maintain smooth workflows and support positive experiences for patients and colleagues.
You will contribute to the delivery of reliable, high-quality specimens by receiving, sorting and preparing samples for analysis, ensuring they are stored and transported under defined conditions, and entering patient data and testing information with precision and care. A key part of your role is responding to internal and external enquiries efficiently and professionally, helping maintain the high standards required for timely diagnosis and effective patient treatment. You will play a key role is supporting the safe and compliant dispatch of pathology specimens across local, national, and international locations in line with IATA regulations. Key Requirements
• Strong communicator with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to customer service
• Proven ability to prioritise, stay organised and perform effectively in busy clinical settings
• Experience in pathology collection or laboratory environments, with sound computer and LIS skills
• Solid understanding of confidentiality, infection control, WHS principles and NATA requirements
