About the Michael Rice Centre for Haematology and Oncology (MRCHO)

The Michael Rice Centre for Haematology and Oncology (MRCHO) provides clinical services to children and adolescents diagnosed with a range of conditions, including cancer and blood disorders. Inpatient and outpatient care is provided in partnership with patients and their families.

About the role

This is a new role within the service and the incumbent will play a key part in integrating allied health interventions to ensure the provision of a holistic, multi-disciplinary model of care. 

This leadership position is open to all allied health disciplines, as relevant to the care setting. 

Key duties of the role

As part of the clinical leadership team, this role contributes to holistic patient centred care through advocacy of allied health interventions, broad allied health practice design and education.

This role is responsible for broad allied health leadership and advocacy (across multiple disciplines) within the MRCHO setting, including patient allocation with the responsibility of delivering expert clinical care to patients.

Skills and Experience

  • An appropriate allied health degree or qualification which entitles registration with the relevant board or provides eligibility for membership with the professional association.
  • Ability to lead, provide and promote specialised, efficient and evidence based services for children and young people with haematology / oncology diagnoses and their families
  • Ability to develop professional networks relating to haematology / oncology services and paediatrics.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) and conflict resolution skills.
  • Commitment to research, education and health promotion as part of quality clinical practice.
