About the role

Join our Diet Kitchen team preparing specialised meals that make a real difference to patient care. Use your cooking skills to deliver safe, high-quality diets for patients and infants in a supportive hospital environment.

Key duties of the role

  • Prepare special diet, allergy and texture modified meals
  • Follow stock control, storage, usage, and wastage procedures, maintaining appropriate records and statistics
  • Collate bulk food production requirements and plan cooking schedules
  • Plate meals for delivery with high-quality presentation and adherence to standard serving sizes and portion control. Ensure timely delivery of meals.
  • Prepare, process, label, and store baby diets according to standard procedures and the Food Safety Plan
  • Maintain a high standard of cleaning and sanitisation

Skills and Experience

  • 2 years of cooking experience in a large-scale food business
  • Knowledge of special diets, texture modified foods, food safety and the use of Food Safety Plans
  • Ability to follow specialised directions to ensure patient safety
  • Ability to prepare, present and serve safe, high-quality meals
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Positive attitude towards work and effective teamwork.  Strong communication skills with staff at all levels, cultures, and backgrounds
