About the role
The CaFHS Parent Helpline is a call centre-based service, located on South Terrace Adelaide. Child and Family health nursing and allied health staff provide a responsive, in-time, clinical health service via phone or telehealth. Working in partnership with South Australian families to support their parenting journey, focussing on the Birth-5 year age group.
The service operates 365 days of the year from 0700 - 2130 every day. Parents are free to call the service anytime during these hours, as appointments are not required. More intensive clinical supports, via Video Telehealth, are also offered each day.
Successful applicants will be offered an orientation program including use of the computerised telephone and clinical data systems.
The Parent Helpline is staffed 7 days per week by 2 nursing staff on each early shift and late shift as follows:
• Early Shifts: 0700 – 1530 x 2 staff
• Late shifts: 1500 – 2130 x 2 staff
The team also comprises Social Work staff who work primarily weekdays.
Whilst set/regular shifts are commonly worked in this unit, flexibility with some shifts is required to ensure there are options for covering unplanned leave, as required.
Key duties of the role
- Provide person centred, clinical nursing care and individual case management.
- Monitoring patient care plans to ensure appropriate care outcomes are achieved.
- Act to resolve local and immediate nursing care or service delivery problems.
- Act as a resource person within an area based on knowledge, experience and skills.
- Select and implement therapeutic interventions and support programs and evaluate progress.
Skills and Experience
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate; or
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse and Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
- Registered Nurse with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience.
- Effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Ability to be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues.
