About the role

The Billing Support Officer plays a key role in ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of SAMI Billing services. Accountable to the Team Leader, Billing and Receipting, you will utilise the Enterprise System for Medical Imaging and PBRC to produce timely, accurate and compliant invoicing and claiming outcomes. Predominantly supporting the site at which you are located, you will provide direct billing advice to medical imaging staff and help maintain high standards of financial integrity and service delivery.

Working collaboratively across SAMI, you may also provide remote billing support to other sites to ensure equitable workload distribution, including occasional cross-site coverage during extended leave periods. Drawing on your knowledge of medical imaging billing, you will support the Coordinator, Billing Service in developing and maintaining standardised billing practices, contributing to continuous improvement and consistency across the service.

About You

Possess a high level of administrative skills, including proficient computer literacy with attention to detail for data entry and the ability to work autonomously.
Position can be metro based at RMH or onsite within medical imaging Port Pirie, however Port Pirie applicant will need to be able to travel to Adelaide for training.

  • Billing & Policy Interpretation – Ability to understand, interpret and apply policy requirements relevant to billing operations, ensuring accurate and compliant outcomes.

  • Problem Solving & Customer Resolution – Proven capability to identify, investigate and resolve complex billing enquiries while maintaining high standards of professional service.

  • Systems & Operational Experience – Experience working with multiple computer applications and within a hospital finance or medical imaging setting.

  • Communication & Relationship Management – Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, ability to work under limited supervision, manage competing priorities and maintain effective working relationships across teams, supported by a general knowledge of the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS).
