About the Role

As an Operational Services Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of laboratory services. Employees at this level are subject to general direction and undertake a range of functions requiring the practical application of acquired skills and knowledge. You will be responsible for sorting, accessioning and preparing specimens in accordance with established protocols, entering accurate data into laboratory systems, and ensuring samples are stored and transported under appropriate conditions. This role also involves assisting with preliminary diagnostic tests, maintaining laboratory equipment and contributing to housekeeping, inventory management, and general laboratory operations to support high-quality, timely diagnostic outcomes.

In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will provide professional and courteous customer service, handling internal and external enquiries, responding to complaints appropriately, and collaborating with staff to identify process improvements. You will actively participate in quality management, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement initiatives, including procedural audits, training, and safety programs. With opportunities for on-the-job training and professional development, this role offers a rewarding way to contribute to the delivery of safe, accurate, and efficient laboratory services while developing your skills in a supportive team environment.
