About the Role
As a Medical Scientist, Regional Reliever (MeS1), you will play an integral role in delivering high-quality, multi-disciplinary pathology services across ten regional SA laboratories. Providing rostered relief support, you will apply your scientific and technical expertise across Microbiology, Haematology, Clinical Chemistry, Transfusion Medicine and Pre-Testing to ensure reliable, efficient and clinically responsive diagnostic services. From specimen reception, patient collections (including venepuncture), through to interpretation and reporting, you will prioritise work according to clinical urgency while meeting established KPIs and laboratory and accreditation standards.
Working collaboratively with regional teams, you will contribute to quality management, risk mitigation and continuous improvement activities in line with regulatory frameworks. You will assist with implementing new methods, consumables and equipment, participate in User Acceptance Testing, maintain laboratory instruments and support inventory and operational requirements. With supervision, you will also contribute to the development and adoption of new techniques while maintaining your professional growth through ongoing learning and training. About You
To be successful in this role, you will meet the essential minimum requirements under NPAAC supervision standards and bring the qualifications, adaptability and technical capability to deliver high-quality pathology services across regional laboratories. Experience is preferred, but not essential.
