About the Role
Join our team as an Allied Health Assistant supporting care in a Specialist Geriatric Unit.
The Specialist Geriatric Unit provides care for patients who have behaviours and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD).Behaviours and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) vary widely from person to person. Common examples include agitation, aggression, wandering, restlessness, anxiety, depression, and mood swings.
You will work within a multidisciplinary team, understanding how to care for patients demonstrating complex behaviours, using a patient centred approach to support a positive quality of life.
What you’ll do
- Deliver therapy programs with patients one on one or in groups
- Prepare, adjust and maintain therapy equipment and spaces
- Assist with patient transfers, transport and personal care
- Record clinical notes and update patient outcomes
- Liaise with clinicians, carers and team members to support care
- Maintain caseload tasks and prioritise daily workload
- Contribute to team meetings and service improvement
About You
You’re a hands-on, reliable team player who enjoys supporting patients and making a real difference every day. You bring practical skills, sound judgement, excellent communication and a commitment to safe, respectful care.
- Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent
- Experience in care or therapeutic support roles
- Strong communication and clear clinical handover skills
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload
- Confidence using computers for records and data entry
