About the role: 

Reporting to the Team Leader, this role is responsible for providing support to people with depression and anxiety related disorders through the coordination of self-management groups and consumer feedback mechanisms.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Provision of one to one support and group support,
  • Responsible for the peer self-management group programme,
  • Assisting clients by providing information relating to ongoing therapy as discussed with treating therapists,
  • Coordinating the consumer feedback program in collaboration with FPTS staff,
  • Providing advice to the FPTS management committee on specific consumer issues

About you:

  • Demonstrated ability to be an effective self-manager of their own mental health,
  • Willingness to undertake formal leader training in community self-management processes and practices,
  • Strong interest in consumer advocacy and a capacity to act as an advocate,
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people,
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and manage confidential and sensitive information, recognising circumstances when such information must be disclosed as appropriate,
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Word software and general administration duties,
  • Current or past experience of having a diagnosis of anxiety/depression,
  • Completion of an evidence based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) treatment program successfully and currently living well with the recovery from that condition,
  • Experience in coordinating a consumer support group or self-management program
