About the role

This is an outstanding opportunity to work in partnership with Aboriginal Cultural Child and Family Support Consultants (ACCFSC) travelling to the Anangu, Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands providing culturally appropriate Child and Family Health Services.

An opportunity is available for a current RN2 Clinical Nurse within the Child and Family Health Service (CaFHS) to provide services and foster connection in one of the world oldest living cultures among the beautiful Anangu, Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands. This role will be part of integrated team who unite cultural wisdom and clinical expertise, working alongside Anangu people to offer high quality Child and Health services to infants, children, and families.

Key duties of the role

  • Provide health promotion, education, and clinical services in partnership with Aboriginal Cultural Child and Family Support Consultants, following their cultural lead
  • Assists and supports the Regional Team Manager or equivalent in management, clinical, and education activities
  • Participate in clinical teaching, overseeing learning experience, and goal setting for students, new staff and staff with less experience
  • Participate in clinical auditing, clinical trials and/or evaluative research

Skills and Experience

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience.
  • Demonstrated culturally safe and appropriate skills and knowledge of working with Aboriginal Children and families.
  • Commitment for contributing to improvements in the quality, safety and community needs-driven distribution of services across CaFHS and within the specific service area

This role participates in a Fly in Fly Out (FIFO) model with 1 week at a time working on and servicing the APY Lands.  Dates will be planned in advance and typically occur during school terms. Where additional hours are required, primarily associated with FIFO, an appropriate arrangement will be established for time in lieu (TOIL).
