- Multiple Positions available - Full Time/Part Time - Term Contract
- As per the SMOEA 2025, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-month Service Registrar placement will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.

About the role
Service Registrar role providing clinical care across General Paediatrics, Neonatal Medicine, Paediatric Emergency, PICU, Rehabilitation and Community Services at WCH, FMC and LMH. Involves inpatient and outpatient care, multidisciplinary practice, clinical teaching, and participation in research activities.
Key duties of the role
- Deliver comprehensive paediatric and neonatal clinical care across inpatient, outpatient, emergency and procedural settings under consultant supervision.
- Assess, diagnose, treat and coordinate care for patients, including admissions, discharges, follow-up arrangements and emergency presentations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, patients and families to support patient-centred care and informed decision-making.
- Participate in teaching, supervision, professional development, clinical training programs and the mentoring of junior medical staff.
- Contribute to research, clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives and accurate medical documentation to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) or equivalent, with eligibility for registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Minimum PGY3+ experience, including at least 6 months' paediatric experience in a tertiary healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated clinical skills and broad knowledge of paediatric medicine relevant to acute and inpatient care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Proven problem-solving, decision-making and workload management skills, with the ability to perform effectively in high-pressure clinical environments.
