About the role
The Clinical Midwife or Clinical Nurse/Midwife (Education Portfolio) supports the Midwife Unit Manager (MUM) in delivering high-quality patient care through clinical education, staff development, and mentoring. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, the role promotes evidence-based practice, continuous learning, and positive health outcomes for women and their families.
Key duties of the role
- Deliver clinical education, orientation and mentoring to students and staff.
- Provide safe, person-centred nursing/midwifery care and support positive patient outcomes.
- Support the Midwife Unit Manager across clinical, education and service coordination activities, including contributing to organisation-wide protocols and guidelines
- Participate in quality improvement, clinical audit and research activities.
- Contributes to a team environment, which promotes positivity, learning and development, safety and welfare of employees, acknowledges cultural and personal differences, and encourages creativity, innovation and honesty.
Skills and Experience
- Current or eligible AHPRA registration as a Midwife or Nurse/Midwife with a current practising certificate
- Minimum 3 years post-graduation experience, or current classification as a Clinical Midwife or Clinical Nurse/Midwife
- Additional tertiary or vocational qualification in education
- Demonstrated experience in clinical education, staff supervision and facilitation within a midwifery setting
- Proven ability to lead, communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
