About the role

Responsible for delivering an effective and efficient paediatric orthodontic service within the Paediatric Dental Department at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. The role promotes teamwork and service coordination to achieve optimal clinical outcomes. It also involves strategic planning, service evaluation, and ongoing quality and safety improvement through professional development and clinical audits.

Key duties of the role

  • Ensure a comprehensive, effective & efficient paediatric dental service within accepted standards of practice to patients
  • Promote patient-focused care by keeping patients and families informed, respecting their rights, and responding to their concerns.
  • Promote undergraduate and postgraduate training in the discipline of Paediatric Dentistry
  • Develop and implement research projects within the department or provide support for other department members actively involved in research

Skills and Experience

  • Current registration as a Specialist Orthodontist with the Dental Board of Australia
  • Extensive clinical experience in Orthodontics, including management of craniofacial malformations and complex medical comorbidities
  • Completion of a suitable advanced training period (12-24 months) in Orthodontics at a specialist dental facility incorporating interdisciplinary service
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and communicate clearly with patients, families, and specialist colleagues
