About the Role

Join a collaborative laboratory team where your technical expertise will help deliver accurate, high-quality diagnostic services in a dedicated night shift role. This 12-month maternity leave cover opportunity offers the chance to apply your technical judgement across routine and complex laboratory procedures while supporting efficient overnight operations and patient care outcomes.

Working within a fast-paced diagnostic environment, you’ll supervise and train staff, troubleshoot equipment and technical issues, and help maintain strong quality and compliance standards. You’ll also contribute to method development, inventory management and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting reliable after-hours laboratory services.

• Perform routine and complex laboratory testing
• Review results for accuracy and clinical relevance
• Train and support laboratory staff and procedures
• Troubleshoot equipment and resolve technical issues
• Maintain quality systems and compliance standards
• Assist research, method reviews and new procedures
• Monitor inventory, specimen storage and disposal
• Build strong working relationships across the laboratory

 
About You

• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a relevant field
• Skilled in laboratory testing and troubleshooting
• Strong time management and task prioritisation skills
• Confident supervising and training team members

About the Role

Join a supportive laboratory team where your scientific expertise will help deliver accurate, timely and high-quality diagnostic services. As a Medical Scientist, you’ll apply your technical knowledge across a broad range of laboratory activities while contributing to continuous improvement, quality management and exceptional client service.

Working in a fast-paced diagnostic environment, you’ll perform routine testing, review results, support new methods and equipment implementation, and help maintain efficient laboratory operations. You’ll also collaborate closely with senior staff and clients while contributing to staff training, quality assurance and safe laboratory practices.

• Perform routine diagnostic testing and result analysis
• Prioritise urgent work to meet clinical timeframes
• Support new methods, equipment and procedures
• Maintain laboratory equipment and quality systems
• Liaise with clients on specimen and test enquiries
• Contribute to staff training and team support
• Assist inventory, specimen storage and housekeeping
• Drive quality improvement and risk management activities

About You

You’re a detail-focused and proactive professional who enjoys working collaboratively to deliver accurate and reliable diagnostic services.

• Relevant pathology science qualification recognised by NPAAC
• Skilled in diagnostic testing and laboratory equipment use
• Strong time management and problem-solving skills
• Confident using laboratory systems and software
• Committed to quality, teamwork and customer service
