About the role

The Principal Work Health and Safety (WHS) Consultant is accountable to the Director, WHS & Injury Management (IM) and Worker Health for delivering a prompt, comprehensive, effective, efficient, and data-driven WHS service for WCHN employees. This role ensures compliance with Work Health and Safety legislation, SA Health policy, WCHN procedures, and Accreditation Standards.

Key duties of the role

• Committed to WCHN’s values of integrity, respect and accountability. Values care, excellence, innovation, creativity, leadership and equity in health care provision and health outcomes
• Contribute to the development of strategies to meet WHS objectives and targets
• Deliver prompt, efficient, cost effective and equitable WHS services across WCHN supporting safe environment and safe systems of work with the aim of zero harm
• Foster a positive culture and safe work environment through ongoing monitoring, review, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers

Skills and Experience

• Significant experience developing and implementing WHS strategies within a large and complex organisation
• Demonstrated knowledge of WHS legislation, codes of practice, standards, and risk management principles
• Proven ability to provide WHS leadership, consultancy, and advice to senior stakeholders
• Experience in WHS data analysis, reporting, system improvement, and project management
