About The Role
The Director Medical Services – Mount Gambier & Districts Health Service provides strategic and operational medical leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality healthcare across the site. Reporting to the Executive Director Medical Services, you will oversee clinical governance, medical workforce management, service planning and medical education while working closely with executive leaders, clinical teams and external partners. This influential leadership role supports the delivery of patient-centred care, drives quality improvement initiatives, and contributes to the ongoing development of sustainable rural health services across the Limestone Coast.
About You
You are an experienced medical leader with a strong background in clinical governance, operational leadership and medical workforce management. You are passionate about delivering high-quality patient care, building collaborative relationships and driving service improvement within a regional health setting.
To succeed in the Director Medical Services role, you will:
- Hold a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (or equivalent), specialist qualifications, and be eligible for Specialist Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Demonstrate extensive experience in both clinical practice and medical administration.
- Have proven leadership experience managing medical workforce, clinical governance and operational service delivery.
- Possess exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and contemporary rural healthcare.

Mount Gambier & Districts Health Service is the largest hospital within the Limestone Coast Local Health Network and provides a comprehensive range of acute, surgical, maternity, emergency, mental health and specialist services to the South East of South Australia and surrounding Victorian communities. Conditions of Employment
- A current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) for employment involving unsupervised contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position.
- A current Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required.
- Immunisation Risk for this position is Category A.
- SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy
