About the Role:
Community mental health care in northern Adelaide demands clinical expertise, calm leadership, and a genuine commitment to the people you serve. The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is seeking an experienced registered nurse to step into the Associate Nurse Unit Manager role within the Modbury Adult Community Mental Health Service — a team that makes a real difference in the lives of adults navigating complex mental health challenges.
Your Role in the TeamWorking alongside the Nurse Unit Manager, you will provide day-to-day operational and clinical leadership across the North East Community Mental Health service. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the coordination of safe, person-centred care delivery across the multidisciplinary team
- Providing clinical supervision, guidance, and mentorship to nursing staff
- Contributing to roster management, staff performance, and workforce planning
- Driving quality improvement initiatives and upholding accreditation and safety standards
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated experience in mental health nursing, with a sound understanding of community-based care models
- Proven ability to lead and support a clinical team in a complex care environment
- Working knowledge of the SA Mental Health Act and relevant legislative frameworks
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with consumers, carers, and colleagues
- Experience or readiness to contribute to quality, safety, and continuous improvement processes within SA Health's frameworks
To be eligible for this position, you must be
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
- Enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or holds a qualification in mental health practice

Our Local Health Network Sites and Services:
NALHN provides a range of hospital (inpatient), outpatient, community and home-based services across multiple sites in Adelaide’s north and north-eastern suburbs, including Aboriginal health, mental health, and GP services.
Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
Modbury Hospital – a general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.
