About the role
As a Facilities Officer, you'll play a key role in creating and maintaining safe, functional and high-performing facilities that support the essential work of SA Pathology. Working across a diverse range of building projects, maintenance activities and facilities initiatives, you'll coordinate projects from planning through to delivery, provide practical operational advice and help ensure our workplaces remain compliant, efficient and fit for purpose. Your expertise will contribute to resolving facilities and Work Health and Safety matters while supporting continuous improvements that make a real difference to our staff and the communities we serve.
This is a varied and collaborative role where no two days are the same. You'll work closely with colleagues across Engineering Services, the Facilities team and SA Pathology, while building strong relationships with contractors, government facilities management providers and regulatory bodies. From overseeing maintenance works and monitoring contractors to providing technical advice, analysing project costs and supporting planned maintenance programs, you'll have the opportunity to influence outcomes, solve problems and contribute to a workplace that enables high-quality healthcare and diagnostic services across South Australia.
About You
You're a proactive facilities professional with a recognised trade qualification and a passion for delivering safe, compliant and high-quality building and maintenance outcomes. You enjoy working collaboratively, thrive in a varied environment and bring the technical expertise and practical problem-solving skills needed to manage facilities projects from planning through to completion.
- Qualified and experienced: You hold a recognised trade qualification and have experience coordinating facilities, building or maintenance projects, including planning, costing, construction, refurbishment and ongoing maintenance activities.
- Technically knowledgeable: You have a strong understanding of the National Construction Code (Building Code of Australia), Work Health and Safety legislation, relevant Australian Standards, facilities management principles and industry best practice, with the ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and plans.
- Collaborative communicator: You build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, communicate technical information clearly, prepare high-quality reports and confidently liaise with contractors, service providers and internal teams.
- Organised and solutions focused: You can effectively manage competing priorities, work both independently and as part of a team, oversee contractors, monitor facilities works and use tools such as AutoCAD (or similar) and Microsoft Office to deliver quality outcomes on time.
