Overview
Working across a 24 hour 7 days a week rotating roster, including after-hours, weekends and public holidays, and reporting to the Emergency Department (ED) Administration Team Leader, you will provide high-quality frontline administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the Emergency Department and the delivery of exceptional patient care.
Key responsibilities include:
- Accurately managing patient registrations, admissions, transfers, and discharge documentation in accordance with established procedures.
- Coordinating appointments, referrals, and medical record management while ensuring compliance with NALHN policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
- Acting as a first point of contact for patients, families, visitors, and healthcare professionals, providing professional, courteous, and compassionate assistance in a fast-paced environment.
- Supporting medical, nursing, and allied health staff through the timely completion of administrative tasks, including data entry, correspondence, record maintenance, and information management.
- Contributing to the smooth operation of a 24-hour, 7-day Emergency Department by working across a rotating roster to provide administrative support during both standard and after-hours periods.
- Maintaining accurate patient information systems and supporting departmental reporting and operational requirements.
This role plays a vital part in supporting patient flow, clinical workflows, and the overall delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care within the Emergency Department.

Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services
