This is a full-time, long-term contract opportunity at Flinders Medical Centre, placing you at the centre of one of SALHN's most high-profile clinical units. As the Senior Administrative Officer for Obstetrics and Gynaecology, you'll provide the organisational backbone that allows a busy clinical team to focus on patient care. It's a role that suits an experienced health administrator who wants genuine responsibility, a stable tenure, and work that contributes to meaningful moments in people's lives.
About the role:
Reporting to the Manager, this role is responsible for the provision of management, supervision and the efficient running of the Department. The role also includes management of staff leave, equity in workload and ensures that the various tasks and functions are completed in a timely and satisfactory manner.
Duties for the role will include:
- Ensure that service provision and the activities of the Division / Unit / Ward/ Service are person and family centred and professionally and effectively conducted by contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers,
- Ensure the effective management of human, financial and physical assets through appropriate planning and allocation of resources to achieve agreed Division / Unit / Ward / Service and strategic plans,

Ensuring secretarial tasks are prioritised, delegated, managed and supervised in an equitable and harmonious manner,

Taking responsibility for organising, overseeing and coordinating appointment diaries, which may include liaising with a broad range of stakeholders,

Assessing incoming mail and ensuring that urgent matters are brought to the attention of relevant staff and organise/manage follow-up
About you:

Demonstrated ability to manage, lead and work as a member of a team to provide a quality service,

Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve conflict within the work team,

Ability to work with minimal supervision, using initiative in meeting objectives under pressure,

Ability to convey instructions and information accurately to other staff and to train other staff in the clerical/secretarial functions of the Department,
- Experience in office management,
- Proven experience in providing and managing comprehensive and confidential clerical, typing and receptionist tasks to senior officers
