About the Role:

The Older Adults Supportive Interim Stay (OASIS) Unit is a 20-bed service that will provide short-term person-centred care to Older People who are medically and behaviourally stable and awaiting transition to their next care environment. The OASIS Unit will provide a care environment that is more home like when compared to that of a traditional acute or sub-acute ward. It is designed to maximise wellbeing, preserve physical function, support behavioural stability and facilitate timely access to longer term care within a RACH.  

Older adults navigating the transition between hospital and home deserve attentive, skilled care at every step. Modbury Hospital's Older Adult Supportive Interim Stay (OASIS) unit, part of the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN), is seeking multiple Enrolled Nurses to join a dedicated team that makes that transition safer, smoother, and more dignified. Your Role in OASIS

Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will deliver person-centred nursing care to older adult patients in a supportive interim stay setting — bridging acute care and independent living. Key responsibilities include:

• Providing direct clinical care to older adult patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, consistent with your Enrolled Nurse scope of practice
• Supporting patients with activities of daily living, rehabilitation goals, and safe discharge planning
• Monitoring and documenting patient progress, escalating changes in condition promptly
• Contributing to a therapeutic environment that promotes patient wellbeing, dignity, and independence

These are full-time, short-term contract positions through to 26 March 2027, with multiple vacancies available.

What You Bring

• Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse (without notation)
• Experience or genuine interest in aged care, rehabilitation, or transitional care settings
• Sound clinical assessment skills and the ability to recognise and respond to patient deterioration
• A respectful, patient-centred approach when caring for older adults and their families
• Clear, timely documentation and communication skills within a multidisciplinary team
• Capacity to work rotating shifts across a 24/7 roster at Modbury Hospital

To be eligible for this position, you must be 

• Registered or eligible for registration as an enrolled nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
• In order to administer medicines, must have completed a Board-approved program of study which includes an administration of medicines unit.

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.

Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
