About the role

Begin your pharmacy career as part of the SA Pharmacy Statewide Intern Program, based at Berri Hospital, where you will put your university learning into practice through a comprehensive, supervised intern training program. Working alongside registered pharmacists and other health professionals, you will build the skills and confidence to deliver safe, effective pharmaceutical care while working towards the registration requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

You will assist with preparing prescriptions for inpatients, outpatients and patients leaving hospital, compounding pharmaceutical products, counselling patients and providing medicines information. With regular guidance and feedback from your preceptor and supervisors, you will develop your practice across pharmacy services, contribute to quality improvement and connect with other SA Pharmacy interns through an accredited Intern Training Program. This includes opportunity to spend time at another SA Pharmacy site for a 4 week elective during this 12 months.

About You

You are ready to learn, welcome feedback and bring a careful, patient-focused approach to your work. You will have:

•  A pharmacy degree or diploma from an accredited School of Pharmacy, or completion of stage 1 of the APEC registration process in Australia, and provisional registration or eligibility for provisional registration with AHPRA.

•  Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, pharmacy colleagues and other health professionals.

•  Good organisational skills, initiative and adaptability, with the ability to dispense accurately, analyse drug therapy information and present it clearly under supervision.

•  Knowledge of medicines, including their pharmacology, therapeutic use and adverse effects, relevant pharmacy and controlled substances legislation, medicines information resources and workplace health and safety requirements.
