One of the larger Schools within the University, the School of Psychology & Public Health undertakes teaching and research across a broad range of disciplines, including: Neuroscience; Psychology; Counselling; Rehabilitation Counselling; Art Therapy; Family Therapy; Public Health; Digital Health and Analytics; Health Information Management; and Ergonomics, Safety and Health.

The Department of Psychology, Counselling and Therapy encompasses several broadly related disciplines, including clinical, developmental, and social psychology; neuropsychology, cognition, and behavioural neuroscience; rehabilitation and mental health counselling; and art and family therapy.

 

This level B, teaching focused position is expected to develop curriculum for the discipline of Rehabilitation Counselling, coordinate subjects, teach, support students as they learn, and support the administrative functions.  This position also has primary responsibility for sourcing student placements and supporting students, supervisors and industry partners throughout the placement experience.

 

To be considered for this position, you will have;

 

• PhD degree or completion of a postgraduate qualification in a discipline relevant to Rehabilitation Counselling (i.e. rehabilitation counselling, counselling, health psychology, rehabilitation psychology, counselling psychology), with subsequent professional work experience; OR completion of an equivalent level of training and professional practice experience.

• A strong demonstrated background in Rehabilitation Counselling or associated fields and its application within the broader health sector, including experience working for at least 5 years in this field.

• Extensive knowledge of the requirements for students undertaking placements and/or in coordination of placements more generally, including familiarity with a range of existing and new placement providers.

• Ability to engage effectively with external partners so as to increase student access to rich placement opportunities.
