We are reducing the overall use of academic casual employment and providing meaningful pathways for casual academic staff to ongoing academic employment through our casual consolidation project.

To be eligible, you must (a) Have casual experience totalling at least two (2) teaching sessions at La Trobe University in the previous two (2) years; (b) Have not held a continuing position in a university in the previous three (3) years.

La Trobe University invites applications for a Lecturer (Level B, Teaching Focused) in the School of Computing, Engineering, and Mathematical Sciences at our Melbourne (Bundoora) campus.

About the Role: As a Lecturer, you will:

  • Deliver innovative undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Statistics and Data Science.
  • Engage students through interactive lectures, tutorials, computer labs and workshops across online, blended, and in-person modes.
  • Design and evaluate impactful curriculum initiatives to enhance employability skills.
  • Mentor other academics in best teaching practices and contribute to scholarly activities at La Trobe’s Centre for Learning and Teaching.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline.
  • Proven success in teaching and curriculum development, demonstrated by strong student feedback or awards.
  • Evidence of innovative teaching methods that enhance the student experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
