We are reducing the overall use of academic casual employment and providing meaningful pathways for casual academic staff to ongoing academic employment through our casual consolidation project.
To be eligible, you must (a) Have casual experience totalling at least two (2) teaching sessions at La Trobe University in the previous two (2) years; (b) Have not held a continuing position in a university in the previous three (3) years.

About the Role:
La Trobe University is seeking an exceptional candidate for a continuing position as a Lecturer in French, within our Department of Languages and Cultures. This role focuses on teaching excellence and aims to deliver and enhance the French curriculum, traditionally supported by casual staff. This is a unique opportunity for individuals with recent teaching experience in French at La Trobe University (within the last two years).
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and high-quality lectures, tutorials, and workshops in online, blended, and face-to-face modes.
- Provide constructive and timely feedback to students.
- Collaborate on curriculum design and development, focusing on online and blended delivery to improve student experience.
- Contribute to core subjects in French, supervise Honours and postgraduate students, and assist with relevant administrative tasks.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Qualification: Completion of a PhD in a relevant discipline.
- Teaching Experience: Demonstrated success in face-to-face, blended, and online teaching, supported by positive student feedback.
- Innovation: Evidence of initiatives enhancing student experience over the past three years.
- Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written skills, with the ability to engage with diverse backgrounds.
- Teamwork: Proven ability to work collaboratively within a collegial environment.
