About the Role
La Trobe University is seeking an outstanding Associate Professor in Occupational Therapy to provide academic leadership and foster excellence in learning, teaching, and research. Recognised nationally or internationally, you will drive curriculum innovation, lead high-impact research, and build strong relationships with industry partners.
The School of Allied Health, Human Services and Sport is renowned for its research excellence and strong industry connections. With the construction of a new Clinical Teaching Building and student-led clinic, this is an exciting time to join a team committed to delivering exceptional education and research in health and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, design, and review of curriculum and programmes of study.
- Make a leading/national contribution to the scholarship of learning, teaching, and research.
- Conduct and lead innovative, high-impact research and produce publications and conference papers.
- Attract grant funding to support research.
- Supervise Higher Degree by Research (HDR), Honours, and postgraduate research projects.
- Mentor and coach junior colleagues to develop their teaching and research capabilities.
- Promote and represent the University and discipline at local, national, and international levels.
- Provide leadership and develop staff capability through performance management and mentoring.
Skills & Experience
- Completion of a PhD or equivalent accreditation and standing.
- Demonstrated effectiveness and leadership in curriculum development and teaching.
- Record of attracting and successfully supervising honours/research students.
- Evidence of effective contributions to leadership and management at Department, School, or University level.
- Distinguished record of nationally and/or internationally recognised independent research.
- Successful record of external research funding.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to build sustainable relationships with industry partners.
- Proven leadership skills with experience in managing and mentoring staff.
- Demonstrated effectiveness and leadership in practice education is highly desirable
Essential Compliance Requirements
- Hold, or be willing to undertake and pass, a Victorian Working With Children Check.
- Hold AHPRA registration.
- Take personal accountability to comply with all University policies, procedures, and legislative or regulatory obligations.
