About the position

This Level B position within the School of Agriculture, Biomedicine and Environment will play a significant role in both teaching and research at the national level.  Key responsibilities include developing and coordinating curriculum, teaching subjects in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular genetics/genomics, biotechnology, biomedicine or related areas, as well as directing productive research programs.  The position also involves publishing research outcomes, securing external funding, supervising research students and undertaking administrative duties at the departmental or school level.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • a PhD degree in Biochemistry, Cell Biology or closely aligned discipline
  • demonstrated an ability to supervise or co-supervise honours and postgraduate students
  • a strong record of research publication with evidence of quality and impact
  • success in obtaining research funding from grants/contracts/consultancies
  • experience in tertiary teaching in the following areas: biochemistry, cell biology, molecular genetics/genomics, biotechnology and/or biomedicine
  • demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and curriculum development in face-to-face, blended and/or online modes with a commitment to excellence in teaching
  • demonstrated evidence of innovative teaching and learning initiatives undertaken in the last three years that have improved the student experience.
