La Trobe University is leading the way in reimagining learning for an AI-first world. We are seeking a Senior Manager, AI Teaching and Learning to drive the responsible, strategic, and scalable adoption of artificial intelligence across curriculum, assessment, and teaching practice.
This is a unique opportunity to influence how AI transforms higher education at scale—working at the centre of La Trobe’s Education 2030 strategy and partnering closely with leaders across the AI Institute, Schools, and executive portfolios.
About the role
Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching), you will provide strategic leadership to embed AI across the University’s learning and teaching ecosystem.
You will:
- Lead the design and implementation of a university-wide AI skills framework for students and staff
- Translate emerging AI developments into practical, institution-wide change across curriculum and assessment
- Drive AI-enabled teaching practice that enhances student learning outcomes
- Influence senior stakeholders to adopt innovative, future-focused approaches to education
- Ensure alignment with regulatory frameworks, academic integrity, and ethical AI use
This role is central to positioning La Trobe as a sector leader in AI-first curriculum design and pedagogy.
About you
You are a strategic leader who can operate at the intersection of AI, pedagogy, and institutional transformation.
You will bring:
- Deep expertise in AI, learning and teaching, and higher education practice
- Proven experience leading whole-of-organisation change or capability frameworks
- Strong ability to influence at senior levels and navigate complex governance environments
- Experience translating emerging trends into practical, scalable initiatives
- A strong understanding of policy, risk, and the evolving AI regulatory landscape
You are equally comfortable thinking at a systems level and delivering outcomes on the ground.
