The role
SSEN Transmission is seeking a Governance & Assurance Lead to continue supporting the growth and maturity of the Offshore Project Services function, playing a vital role in delivering our Pathway to 2030 and Net Zero targets.
As an established position, this role is central to ensuring robust governance, reporting, assurance, and project coordination across our offshore portfolio. We're looking for someone with strong subject matter expertise who can build on the existing foundations, drive continuous improvement, and strengthen the interfaces across our delivery functions.
You will
- Embed and maintain the portfolio governance for the Offshore division; ensuring appropriate governance forums, change and decision control processes are established in line as closely as possible with the SSE Large Capital Project (LCP/LCP+) governance framework.
- Define and agree appropriate reporting and KPIs for each project and portfolio across the Offshore division, providing support to projects for establishing project reporting.
- Develop annual assurance plans, associated reviews, and present clear and concise outputs to the relevant stakeholder with practical mitigating actions.
- Lead and mentor the Project Services governance and assurance, and reporting teams - providing guidance, support, and undertaking performance management activities.
- Act as the Champion and SME for Governance and Assurance capability, working with the other Offshore Project Services leads to deliver cohesive and comprehensive services to all projects ensuring successful delivery.
You have
- An understanding of industry wide best practice Governance requirements gained from experience across a capital development and delivery programme, ideally within the Energy industry.
- Demonstrable ability to lead, motivate and develop your team to ensure they deliver and perform to their full potential.
- Experience in supporting major infrastructure projects across the entire project lifecycle, including design, consenting, procurement, commercial, contracting through to construction and commissioning.
- Good stakeholder and relationship management, ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels (internal and external), gaining the collaboration and support from stakeholders in a matrix environment.
- An understanding of challenges and opportunities facing the energy sector coupled with a drive to deliver continuous improvement.
