The role

The Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Specialist delivers and supports enterprise data loss prevention services, with a strong focus on Microsoft Purview technologies. The role blends technical engineering, incident response, and compliance expertise to ensure sensitive data is protected across SSE’s core environments.  The role holder works across the SSE Group and all Business Units and specialist teams, such as Data Protection, to implement tooling against high risk data leaks and overall reduce the Group’s information security risk.

You will

• Act as the subject matter expert for Data Loss Prevention (DLP) within the SSE Group.
• Monitor, investigate, and respond to DLP incidents using Microsoft Purview working in conjunction with the Threat Detection & Response team.
• Recommend and implement improvements to DLP policies and controls especially following analysis of information loss incidents or identification of risky behaviours by SSE staff.
• Regularly update classifiers, adapt to evolving regulations, and refine policies to reduce false positives while maintaining and optimising DLP configurations in line with business needs and regulatory requirements.
• Champion DLP awareness and best practices across the business in conjunction with the cyber security awareness behaviours and culture team.

You have

• Proficiency in Microsoft Purview and Microsoft 365 compliance tools including Insider Risk Management, Sensitive Labels, Information Protection and Data Classification.
• Awareness of cyber security frameworks and best practices including good understanding of data protection regulations (e.g. GDPR, DPA).
• Experience configuring and managing DLP policies.
• Strong analytical and investigative skills with the ability to interpret and act on audit logs and security alerts.
• Team-oriented interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with a broad range of people and roles, including vendors and IT and business personnel
