Join our team as the Events Captain at The Star Brisbane.
The Star Brisbane, positioned at the heart of the new Queen’s Wharf Brisbane precinct, will be Australia’s newest entertainment and leisure destination. Commencing a staged opening in 2024, The Star Brisbane will bring a range of unique entertainment options, world class hotels, dining, bars, luxury retail, gaming and a state-of-the-art Event Centre, transforming how people will play, shop and socialise in the river city.
Are you an experienced F&B Attendant looking for a step up in your career? Or are you looking to elevate your skills in events by leading your own team? Then this is the role for you! The Events Captain will report directly to the Event Floor Manager and are responsible for supervising, guiding, and assisting the events team. In this role, you will proactively manage the event floor staff and liaise closely with our guests and clients to ensure you deliver a perfect event flow on the day. The Events Captain will work to accommodate a range of events such as conventions, exhibitions, functions, galas, and weddings.
A few of your responsibilities:
- Supervise, guide and assist team members with on-the-job training and development
- Supporting the Event Floor Manager to deliver small events & leading a team of up to 10-20 F&B Attendants
- Provide viable suggestions to the Manager to help boost the outlet's productivity
- Briefing staff at the start of every shift & troubleshooting potential issues
- Continuously monitor the work of team members during shifts
What we are looking for:
- Passionate about events and confident leading a team in small-scale events
- Flexible availability, including weekends and public holidays, to work a rotating roster
- Willing & able to work full-time hours (38 hours per week)
- A strong hospitality career focus and the desire to be part of our dynamic and expanding department
- Proven time-management skills, with the ability to thrive in a high-pressure working environment
- Proven ability to build productive relationships and to manage and instigate change
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Valid Responsible Service of Alcohol accreditation
