The Star Brisbane is looking for Guest Support Managers to join the Safer Gambling Team.
This is a 6-month secondment role to support our team with opportunity to extend. It’s a great opportunity to step into a dynamic and supportive environment.
The Star Brisbane is Australia’s newest entertainment hub at the heart of the new Queen’s Wharf Brisbane precinct. The first phase is now open, with more venues and experiences on the way. The Star Brisbane offers a variety of new dining, bars, and unique entertainment options. It also includes a five-star luxury hotel, The Star Grand, and a state-of-the-art Event Centre.
The Guest Support Manager reports directly to the Safer Gambling Duty Manager, and is responsible for monitoring for signs of gambling problems among guests and to respond appropriately to any guest who may need support in line with The Star’s Safer Gambling policies and procedures.
A few of your responsibilities:
- Manage customer relationships to resolve queries and concerns with diplomacy and tact.
- Identify signs of gambling problems and support guests to make adequate decisions about their ongoing gambling activity
- Assist supervisors and managers when employees express concerns in respect of their own gambling activity
- Implement Safer Gambling programmes in accord with the department’s strategy and monitor the quality and effectiveness of programmes to ensure compliance with corporate standards and applicable laws, codes and regulations
- Communicate and implement policies and procedures to all employees ensuring Safer gambling standards are maintained
- Availability to work across all shifts (morning, day and night).
What we are looking for:
- Experience in guest relations, support services, social work, security or education, preferably tertiary qualifications in psychology
- Demonstrated ability to develop productive relationships, policies, and safer gambling strategies
- Ability to demonstrate problem solving skills and show innovative thinking
- Understanding of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to the company.
- Effectively demonstrating the ability to make sound judgements and make informed decisions to mitigate risks
- Ability to identify indications of gambling issues and assisting guests in making decisions regarding their ongoing gambling safety
