As our Data Engineer reporting to the Data Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for assisting with the maintenance of the data platforms (CDW, ACE, and MDM) and related data integration platforms (Informatica, Striim) from an operational and strategic point of view, ensuring that all identified risks have a remediation plan and an appropriate level of proactive monitoring is in place across the platforms.

This is a fantastic opportunity where you will develop the roadmap and strategy for the data platforms and data integration platforms, including how these relate to upstream and downstream platforms

A few of your responsibilities:

  • Provide estimates for new design and development work (with input from SME’s).
  • Develop, document, and maintain data solutions, advise on their application and implementation, and ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with Data Modellers, Data Analysts, and other relevant roles to develop, document, and maintain Data Models, Data Dictionaries, and related metadata.
  • Work with Enterprise Architects, Domain Architects, and Solution Architects to develop, document, and maintain the Data Platform (including designs, roadmaps, and the like).
  • Partner with Project teams and/or Business Stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet or exceed requirements, within agreed timeframes.
  • Support systems analysis activities including data profiling, metadata discovery, and responding to data requests and audits.
  • Participate in incident triage and debugging, helping to identify root causes and implement fixes.
  • Contribute to code documentation, testing, deployment, and collaboration using version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Work with modern data processing platforms such as Apache Spark and Databricks for scalable data engineering solutions.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to analyse, interpret, and respond to technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to put together effort estimates and review them with engineers, senior engineers and leads.
  • Over two years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Azure SQL, or comparable database and cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with Spark, Databricks, or similar distributed data processing frameworks.
  • Over two years of experience using (ideal Experience or familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git), CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
  • Proficient in SQL, Python, and other data-centric programming languages, with over two years of practical application.
