We're excited to invite expressions of interest for a Senior Commercial Manager to join our team, ideally based in Sydney, with Perth as a strong alternative option. Reporting to the General Manager – Commercial, Foodbuy, B&I and Sports & Leisure, this role offers a unique opportunity to lead strategic financial initiatives across Retail, B&I, and Acquisitions sectors.
You'll work closely with senior stakeholders to drive commercial performance, support financial onboarding of new businesses, and lead month-end processes for Venues.
THE ROLE
This role provides strategic and commercial financial support across the Retail, Business & Industry (B&I), and Acquisitions sectors, partnering closely with Senior Operations and Financial Leadership teams. It plays a key role in guiding financial strategy for the Retail team, leading commercial month-end processes for Venues, and ensuring the smooth financial onboarding of newly acquired businesses.
As Senior Commercial Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping financial strategy and driving commercial success across multiple sectors. Your responsibilities will include:
- Acquisitions: Lead financial integration of newly acquired businesses, aligning systems and reporting; assess performance against business case assumptions
- Retail Commercial Support: Partner with Retail leaders to drive sales, margin, and efficiency through financial insights, pricing models, and performance analysis
- Month-End for Venues: Own the commercial month-end process, ensuring accurate reporting, validating results, and identifying improvement opportunities
- Reporting & Planning: Deliver clear financial reporting and lead budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning cycles.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Translate complex financial data into actionable insights; influence decisions through compelling analysis and storytelling
- Leadership & Development: Mentor and lead a high-performing team, champion continuous improvement, and drive strategic finance initiatives
THE PERSON
Skills and Experience required
- Degree qualified in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting; CA/CPA (or equivalent) preferred
- 10+ years of relevant commercial finance experience, ideally in medium to large organisations
- Strong technical and analytical skills, with advanced Excel capabilities
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate with non-finance stakeholders
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Skilled in prioritising, multitasking, and managing team workflows
- Experience with ORACLE and BI tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Anaplan)
- Demonstrated project management experience across finance workstreams
- Strong leadership capability with a passion for team development and continuous improvement
