Compass Group Australia will deliver essential support services at the new Footscray Hospital, one of Victoria’s largest health infrastructure projects. We will provide vital services, including patient services, environmental services, food, security, help desk, and more. As a public hospital with clinical services provided by Western Health, this state-of-the-art facility will play a key role in supporting the community—be part of something bigger and help shape the future of healthcare in Victoria.

THE POSITION

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the hospital’s Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Management Plan and related policies.
  • Foster a strong safety culture by promoting leadership, accountability, and engagement in workplace health and safety initiatives.
  • Coach leaders in their safety behaviours and programs to drive safe operations improvement owned by operational leaders.
  • Drive and maintain processes for identifying, assessing, managing and recording hazards and risks, including fatal risks
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership, clinical and non-clinical teams to ensure effective implementation, support, and monitoring of health and safety requirements across all hospital operations.
  • Ensure compliance with Victorian workplace health and safety legislation, hospital policies, and relevant healthcare safety standards, providing guidance to staff on best practices.

THE PERSON  

  • Proven experience in an operational safety role, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and monitoring HSEQ programmes in a multi-service environment
  • Detailed knowledge of food safety legislation, standards and codes
  • Degree/Diploma in relevant field and/or Certificate IV Work Health and Safety
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Provide, or be willing to obtain, a National Police check clearance and a Working with Children Check
