Workforce and Operations Lead

Compass Group Australia will deliver essential support services at the new Footscray Hospital, one of Victoria’s largest health infrastructure projects. We will provide vital services, including patient services, environmental services, food, security, help desk, and more. As a public hospital with clinical services provided by Western Health, this state-of-the-art facility will play a key role in supporting the community—be part of something bigger and help shape the future of healthcare in Victoria.
THE POSITION:
- Lead Workforce Planning & Rostering: Develop, maintain, and optimise staff rosters across non-clinical services (e.g., Environmental Services, Food Services, Security) to meet service demand, budget, and Enterprise Agreement (EBA) compliance.
- Ensure Rostering Compliance & Accuracy: Guarantee all rosters and timesheets are accurate, compliant with EBAs and policies, and submitted promptly to support payroll and operational readiness.
- Analyse Workforce Data: Proactively analyse data on overtime, shift patterns, and leave trends to identify efficiency opportunities and support new roster model implementation.
- Coordinate Operational Support: Provide high-level operational and administrative support to the leadership team, assisting with day-to-day problem-solving, task prioritisation, and issue escalation.
- Drive Project and Service Improvement: Coordinate the implementation and tracking of operational improvement projects focused on enhancing efficiency and service quality across departments.
- Monitor and Mitigate Workforce Risks: Proactively monitor and escalate workforce risks, including staffing shortages, roster breaches, and non-compliance, to ensure timely mitigation and service continuity.
- Maintain Compliance and Reporting: Ensure departmental managers understand and comply with relevant EBAs and policies, while preparing regular reports on roster efficiency, cost performance, and compliance metrics.
- Facilitate Stakeholder Liaison: Maintain effective communication and liaison between departmental managers, HR, Payroll, and external stakeholders (e.g., Western Health) regarding workforce administration and operational planning.
THE PERSON:
- Rostering/Workforce Expertise: 2–3 years of experience in staff rostering, workforce scheduling, or operational coordination, ideally within a complex service delivery environment (e.g., healthcare or facilities management).
- Operational Team Support: Demonstrated experience supporting or supervising multi-disciplinary operational teams in a fast-paced, high-volume setting, including the ability to coach frontline managers.
- Workforce Compliance Knowledge: Strong, proven understanding and application of Enterprise Agreements (EBAs), Fair Work legislation, and general workforce compliance in day-to-day operations.
- Rostering System Proficiency: Proficiency in modern workforce management or rostering systems (e.g., Kronos, Deputy, Humanforce or equivalent) for system optimisation and training.
- Data Analysis Skills: Well-developed analytical skills with the ability to interpret workforce data, identify trends, and provide actionable operational insights to leadership.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial acumen with proven ability to operate effectively within a contract services environment.
- Organisation and Time Management: Highly developed organisational and time-management skills to prioritise competing demands and manage multiple complex workflows simultaneously.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication and relationship-building capability, with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with operational teams, HR, and Payroll.
