The Position

• Assist the kitchen to prepare and present food and beverages
• Provide friendly customer service
• Fast paced environment
• Operate the till to take orders and process transactions
• Collaborating effectively with the team to ensure smooth operations
• Adhering to hygiene standards and following proper food handling practices.

The Person

• Previous experience in food preparation, catering, or a school canteen environment
• Basic food handling and preparation skills (e.g., sandwich making, heating food, portioning)
• Knowledge of safe food handling and hygiene practices (Food Safety Certificate or willingness to obtain)
• Understanding of allergen management and ability to follow dietary requirements
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, especially during peak service times (e.g., recess and lunch)
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff and students
• Good organisational skills with the ability to follow instructions and routines
• Cash handling and basic point-of-sale (POS) system experience (desirable but often expected)
• Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain a consistent work schedule
• Friendly and approachable manner, with a focus on customer service
• Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in food preparation areas
• Current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
