The primary objective of the Financial Analyst - Airports role within the Airport Commercial Team is to provide critical analytical support to facilitate well-informed decision-making process improvement, contract management, commercial administration and successful negotiations with airports. This role plays a key part in driving effective outcomes and ensuring our airport partnerships deliver value for both the business and our customers.

Analyse and evaluate commercial proposals from airports across the Virgin Australia network by interrogating proposals and supporting data covering terminals, runways, and broader aerodrome infrastructure

Assess the financial and strategic implications of airport offers and proposals, identifying key risks, opportunities, and impacts on Virgin Australia’s commercial model

Build and maintain robust, dynamic financial models to fully understand potential impacts and identify key drivers of any price changes

Applying accounting principles, perform detailed scenario analysis and ‘what if’ analysis to evaluate the impact of variable inputs such as passenger volumes, opex, capex, asset values, useful life depreciation etc

Prepare negotiation strategies and executive briefing materials for airport contract discussions, using tools such as PowerPoint and Power BI

Develop C-suite-ready presentations and recommendations, applying clear data visualisation techniques to highlight key insights

Provide financial insights and commercial rationale to support decision-makers during airport negotiations

Build effective and productive relationships with stakeholders to develop recommendations and deliver ongoing progress updates

Maintain accurate and organised documentation of processes, proposal history, and negotiation outcomes, ensuring commercial terms are effectively recorded and implemented
You’ll be great for this role if you have:
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Finance, or similar,
- At least 2 years' experience in a Business Analyst, Financial Support, Commercial Administration, or aligned role,
- Sound commercial acumen,
- Strong stakeholder management and experience in dealing with a broad spectrum of internal and external business partners,
- Experience in budgeting and financial modelling, with the ability to analyse data and develop what-if scenarios and reports, to support negotiation strategy and business cases for management approval.
- A willingness to tackle a broad range of issues, by embracing the opportunity to problem solve, create efficiencies, improve processes, and develop solutions, to achieve superior commercial outcomes,
- Exposure to aviation business, supplier interface, commercial negotiations, contract review and invoice payment processing,
- Motivation to grow within the role and take on further career development opportunities and additional responsibility, over time.
- A collaborative, outcome focussed, team-based, work ethic which centres around critical thinking and achieving outstanding results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Advanced Microsoft skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
