About the role

Step into a high-impact opportunity with Alinta Energy’s Retail Finance team as a Financial Accountant on a 14-month fixed term contract. In this fast-paced role, you’ll lead accurate financial reporting, shape cash flow forecasts, and streamline ledger processes, while becoming the go-to expert for auditors and commercial leaders in a collaborative and results-driven environment.

What you’ll do

  • Lead monthly financial processes including journal entries, P&L and balance sheet reporting, statutory cash flows, and BAS submissions.
  • Drive forecast and budget accuracy through variance analysis, network billing validation, and cashflow reporting with a focus on conversion rates.
  • Collaborate with Business Partnering and Commercial teams to explain financial drivers and support strategic decisions.
  • Provide expert accounting support, audit liaison, and contribute to audit committee papers and executive reporting.
  • Champion continuous improvement by automating processes, enhancing accrual models, and identifying margin erosion risks.

Your experience

  • Previous experience in a Financial Accountant role with a Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Commerce, along with a CA or CPA qualification.
  • Prior experience in financial, management, and statutory reporting, with solid knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
  • Proficient in finance systems and intermediate Excel skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and adaptable, with a pragmatic and constructive approach.
  • Self-driven and intuitive, with the ability to thrive in dynamic environments and contribute to continuous improvement.
