About the role

We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environment Advisor to join our team at Alinta Energy, playing a crucial role in the development of the Reeves Plains Energy Hub, located north of Adelaide. This exciting project aims to enhance regional energy security and stability within the power grid, supporting Australia's transition to net-zero emissions through the implementation of a state-of-the-art Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

In this role, you will deliver essential HSE services and advice, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards throughout the project. Collaborating closely with project teams, you will develop and implement HSE plans, conduct risk assessments specific to the BESS, and promote a culture of Zero Harm.

What you'll do

  • Provide HSE advice to achieve project and corporate objectives while supporting a culture of Zero Harm.
  • Conduct regular HSE audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance HSE knowledge and awareness among project teams.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to build strong relationships and ensure effective management of HSE processes.
  • Lead investigations into incidents and near misses, recommending improvements to prevent recurrence.

Your experience

  • Degree or diploma in occupational health & safety, or extensive relevant experience.
  • More than five years of professional experience with recognized expertise in HSE management.
  • Construction and/or operational plant-based experience, with knowledge of behavioural-based HSE management programs.
  • Proven track record in developing project HSE plans and innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Accreditation to conduct audits within an industrial workplace is desirable, along with BESS construction or maintenance experience at a commercial or utility scale level.
