About the Opportunity

With safety prioritised above all else at Boral, we look out for each other and are committed to zero harm across our vast, vertically-integrated national business. An opportunity exists for a proactive and energetic Health & Safety Business Partner to join our national Health and Safety team, supporting a network of 13 operational quarries.

Reporting to a Business Unit General Manager and Senior Health & Safety Business Partner, your primary focus is to support our Victorian Metro and Regional Quarries Business ensuring that business unit level issues are understood, controls are implemented and compliance and assurance measures reviewed. Working closely with the frontline, this is a key role in delivering strong alignment between operational risks and health and safety controls and will enable safety improvements and standardisation of processes across our network of Victorian Quarries.

Operating as a true business partner, you will relish the opportunity to travel to a range of Quarries on a regular basis to engage with leaders and employees on site and really understand their challenges, creating learning opportunities from issues and incidents to enable them to perform more effectively. A central part of this role is to build an intimate understanding of our operations and forge strong and lasting relationships with stakeholders so as to deliver positive safety outcomes.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity and candidates must have the flexibility to travel to various sites in Melbourne and across Victoria. To support in this, you will be provided with a motor vehicle allowance. This is not a FIFO role and you will be able to enjoy weekends with your family.

Duties and responsibilities for the role include:

  • Constructively working with and supporting operational leaders on risk management
  • Building operational teams health and safety capacity by providing specialist health and safety advice, support and coaching

  • Supporting the operations in appropriate preparation, management and response to HSE Regulatory Compliance inspections, audits, statutory reports and prescribed incident notifications
  • Facilitating the implementation of the HSEQ Management System & National Programs
  • Ensure Assurance Audits are completed in line with the Audit and Assurance Program and monitor closeout of WHS actions.

What are we looking for?

  • A curious mind with a willingness to embrace new ideas and different approaches
  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally with strong skills in incident investigations and facilitating learnings from incidents
