  • Full-time (1.0 FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis from 1/7/2025-29/5/2026.
  • Base salary range: $91,833 – $97,052 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The Student Wellbeing and Engagement teams facilitates a high-quality student experience through the provision of integrated and comprehensive services. The Wellbeing team is responsible for the delivery of the UWA Mental Health and Wellbeing Framework focusing on opportunities for early intervention and timely access to low barrier services. Student Wellbeing has four broad areas of Counselling services; early intervention services and cohort initiatives in Student Wellbeing; Student Engagement and the provision of a contemporary onboarding experience and the creation of a Respectful and Safer Communities team, as a priority strategic initiative.

About the opportunity

  • You will, deliver high-quality, confidential counselling and case management support to a diverse community of students to maximise student success and facilitate engagement in The Living Room.
  • Work closely with staff within Student Life and other areas of the University as appropriate.
  • Respond to complex student mental health needs, including risk assessment and management, with appropriate referral to specialist University and/or Community services.

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in counselling, social work, psychology or demonstrated equivalent competency.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in delivering counselling, case management and mental health support including suicide crisis and risk intervention.
  • Current registration with an associated professional organisation such as the Australian Association of Social Workers (Mental Health Social Worker) or membership of PACFA (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia) / ACA (Australian Counselling Association).
  • Ability to effectively engage with students who present with complexity including risk assessment and referral.
  • Ability to work as part of a team delivering coordinated mental health care including peer led support.
  • Knowledge of appropriate liaison and referral pathways and current mental health research.

Special Requirements

Provision of a Current National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check will be required for the successful applicants.
